Karen Elaine Evans

My passion is painting. I paint mainly in acrylic as I'm too impatient to wait for oils to dry! I am fascinated by how the play of light can completely alter the mood of a place or object and try to capture this on canvas. I like to build up a canvas with a number of layers so that there is a feeling of depth in my work. I now live within easy reach of the amazing Gower coastline which provides endless inspiration for my artwork.

Self taught, I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in years when my twins were small to paint murals in their rooms and haven't stopped since. Growing up, I was always creating something but life had a tendency to get in the way and time for painting was often the first thing to go. I am fortunate enough to have rediscovered something that I can lose myself in, and I like the way that I now take more notice of the little things when I am trying to capture them on canvas.
