This work has been created in the collage form of cutting the image from paper and then arranging it to form a composition. The work is thus paper on paper. No brushwork or paintwork was used to create this work.
The inspiration came when loss was thick in the air and the world has gone grey with grief.
More From the Artist
Art is a powerful means of silencing the mind and evoking profound experiences on a subtle level. The art which I create seeks to take the viewer into the state of thoughtlessness and therefore is the antithesis of mental concepts and processes. The aim is to feel rather than to think.
I work in a variety of media, but lately I have been creating collages. My process is to simply cut forms out of paper, in a spontaneous fashion and mostly without any theme or concept in mind. In this way, the Divine Creative Force is able to flow through me unhindered by my ego, desires or fears. The work thus becomes a pure creation and is free to be whatever The Flow intends it to be.
The outcome is abstract images and mythical figurines, which combine to create the artwork. I have been drawn to abstraction as it is the Essence of all things. This means reducing everything to its Essence and then presenting that. The effect speaks straight to the heart. My work is about breaking the rules, light and free with a fun, tongue in cheek at times, and joyful creative process.
